World English Bible As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men; and they shall know that I am Yahweh.

Des troupeaux de brebis saintes. Le terme traduit par troupeau comprend tout le menu bétail, chèvres, moutons, béliers ; c'étaient les animaux destinés aux sacrifices ; de là l'épithète de saintes.

Dans ses fêtes solennelles. 2Chroniques 35.7, il est parlé de 30 000 agneaux et chevreaux et de 3000 bœufs que Josias fit venir à Jérusalem pour la fête de Pâques.

Cette image exprime à la fois l'abondance et la sainteté de cette population nouvelle qui remplira le pays d'Israël (Michée 2.12). Le retour du peuple après la captivité a certainement été le commencement de l'accomplissement de ces promesses. Israël rentra dans son pays, et il y vint purifié de ses instincts idolâtres et fermement attaché à son Dieu ; ce renouvellement moral fût bientôt suivi d'une certaine bénédiction temporelle. Mais ce n'était là qu'un point de départ. Le peuple n'était pas réellement converti, et cet état nouveau, au lieu d'aboutir à la régénération complète et à la gloire finale, conduisit le peuple, sur le chemin de l'orgueil contre lequel tant de paroles dans cette prophétie même le mettaient en garde, à une chute nouvelle et à un châtiment plus sévère. Voilà pourquoi la promesse n'est pas accomplie. Mais elle n'est pas abolie pour cela. A la suite de cette longue interruption, un jour viendra où la grâce reprendra son cours, et où les promesses de Dieu seront pour Israël aussi oui et amen en Christ.

      16 So all the service of Yahweh was prepared the same day, to keep the Passover, and to offer burnt offerings on the altar of Yahweh, according to the commandment of king Josiah.
      17 The children of Israel who were present kept the Passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.
      18 There was no Passover like that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did any of the kings of Israel keep such a Passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
      19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this Passover kept.
