La verge : les Chaldéens ; la fierté : celle de ce peuple vainqueur.

Fleurit, éclot : L'ennemi choisi a atteint le point culminant de sa force ; il est donc prêt à exécuter le jugement de Dieu sur Juda (comparez Esaïe 10.5 ; Jérémie 51.20).
