Genèse 12.1-26

Le nom de Juda signifie « louange ». Dieu a été loué à cause de ce nom, chap. Genèse 29:35, Il a été loué par lui, et en Lui ; en conséquence, ses frères seront amenés à lui rendre gloire. Juda sera une tribu forte et courageuse. Juda est comparé à un lion, non pas errant et rageur, mais plutôt appréciant avec satisfaction sa puissance et ses succès, sans dédaigner pour autant les autres ; c'est vraiment un excellent sentiment. Juda a été la tribu royale, la tribu d'où le Messie, le Prince devait venir. « Le Chef »*, cette Semence Promise, par qui la terre doit être bénie, « Celui qui procure la Paix et la Prospérité », le « Sauveur » : Il viendra de la tribu de Juda.

En cette promesse, Jacob a « vu », de loin, l'avènement de Christ, ce qui l'a encouragé, sur son lit de mort. Jusqu'à cette venue du Sauveur, Juda a usé d'autorité, mais après la Crucifixion, conformément à la prophétie annoncée par Christ, Jérusalem a été détruite, et le restant des pauvres juifs fut harcelé et confondu. Beaucoup de ce qui est dit ici, au sujet de Juda, peut s'appliquer à notre Seigneur Jésus. En Lui il y a abondance de tout ce qui nourrit et régénère l'âme, ce qui maintient et encourage toute vie spirituelle. Il est le Vigneron ; le vin symbolise Son sang, qui est véritablement une boisson, et qui a été répandu pour les pécheurs qui en bénéficient, par la foi ; toutes les bénédictions de l'Évangile sont, pour ainsi dire, du vin et du lait, acquis sans argent et sans prix, par lesquels chaque âme assoiffée est désaltérée. Isa 55:1.

* Note du traducteur : Au verset 10, le mot « Chef » a été, selon les versions bibliques, traduit ou laissé en Hébreu : Shiloh, Schilo, etc. Voir les notes de BFC à ce sujet. L'original MHCC mentionne le mot « Shiloh » ; pour une compréhension plus aisée, il a été traduit par « Chef ».

  29 If you take this one also from me, and harm happens to him, you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol .'
  
  30 Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the boy is not with us; since his life is bound up in the boy's life;
  
  31 it will happen, when he sees that the boy is no more, that he will die. Your servants will bring down the gray hairs of your servant, our father, with sorrow to Sheol .
  
  32 For your servant became collateral for the boy to my father, saying, 'If I don't bring him to you, then I will bear the blame to my father forever.'
  
  33 Now therefore, please let your servant stay instead of the boy, a bondservant to my lord; and let the boy go up with his brothers.
  
  34 For how will I go up to my father, if the boy isn't with me?--lest I see the evil that will come on my father."

  14 These of the sons of Gad were captains of the army: he who was least was equal to one hundred, and the greatest to one thousand.

  22 For from day to day men came to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.
  
  23 These are the numbers of the heads of those who were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of Yahweh.
  
  24 The children of Judah who bore shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, armed for war.
  
  25 Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valor for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.
