Jean 12.26

If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

Il y a dans ces paroles une sérieuse exhortation et une riche promesse découlant l'une et l'autre immédiatement de ce qui précède, depuis le verset 23.

Servir le Sauveur, c'est se donner à lui et par conséquent le suivre dans sa vie et dans sa mort. (versets 24,25)

Ce chemin qu'il a suivi lui-même, conduit avec certitude là où il est, c'est-à-dire, dans sa gloire. (verset 23 ; comparez 2Timothée 2.11)

Il faut remarquer ce verbe au présent (là où je suis), par lequel Jésus anticipe sa vie glorieuse comme la possédant déjà. (Comparer Jean 14.3 ; 17.24)

Or, être avec Jésus là où il est c'est la félicité et la gloire du ciel, et c'est ainsi que sera réalisée parfaitement cette précieuse promesse : mon Père l'honorera.
