Il ne faut pas chercher ici d'allusion au sens du nom de Paschur. Le terme de Magor-Missabib signifie : terreur tout autour. Cette expression revient souvent dans Jérémie (comparez verset 10 ; 6.25 ; 46.5 etc.). Ce nom de mauvais augure est expliqué dans le verset suivant.
