World English Bible Hear the word of Yahweh, you nations, and declare it in the islands afar off; and say, He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as shepherd does his flock.

Nations. Les nations païennes qui avaient assisté aux désastres du peuple de Dieu, avaient pu en conclure que Jéhova était moins puissant que leurs idoles. Ce scandale cessera par le miracle de la délivrance de son peuple et aboutira à un hommage éclatant rendu à Jéhova et à ce peuple par tous les païens. Comparez Ezéchiel 36.20-21 ; Psaumes 79.9-10.

Celui qui a dispersé Israël, sait bien où le retrouver ! Il est réconfortant d'observer à quel point l'Éternel est bon, dans l'exercice de Sa Providence. Quand notre âme est dépourvue de la « rosée spirituelle » qu'offrent le Saint-Esprit et la Grâce, elle ressemble à un jardin non irrigué.

Dans ce texte, nous trouvons une promesse merveilleuse, qui ne verra son plein accomplissement, que lors de l'avènement de la Jérusalem céleste (Sion). Soyons convaincus par la manifestation de l'Amour de Dieu, sachons en profiter pleinement, et ne recherchons rien de plus, sachant qu'Il nous rend parfaitement heureux !

Une description de Rachel nous est donnée ici : elle est ressuscitée, mais refuse d'être consolée, étant abandonnée de tout soutien céleste. Le meurtre des enfants de Bethléem, par Hérode, dans Matthieu 2:16-18, accomplit partiellement cette prophétie.

Si nous avons l'espérance de pouvoir bénéficier d'un héritage spirituel éternel, nous serons à même de supporter toutes nos afflictions, convaincus que tout concourt alors à notre bien !
