Voulez-vous amener une nouvelle catastrophe semblable à celle qui nous fit perdre 24000 hommes ? Nombres 25.1 et suivants.

Dont nous ne nous sommes pas purifiés. La disposition à l'idolâtrie existait toujours ; on ne pouvait donc prendre assez de précautions contre elle. Probablement c'était Phinées qui parlait. Comparez son rôle dans l'affaire de Péor (Nombres 25.7).
