Ce jour de sa gloire doit être précédé, pour le Sauveur comme pour ses disciples, par les jours de la souffrance, tandis que le monde profane poursuivra son train de vie au sein de ses jouissances matérielles et de ses intérêts terrestres. (v.26-30.)

La génération qui rejettera son Sauveur, ce sont les Juifs, ses contemporains.
