C'est la troisième fois que Jésus initie ses disciples au secret de ses souffrances. (Marc 8.31 et suivants, Marc 9.30 et suivants)

Ces prédictions deviennent toujours plus explicites et plus claires, et les trois premiers évangélistes les ont toutes conservées avec soin et d'un commun accord. Elles nous montrent quelle vue claire et précise Jésus avait de tout ce qui allait lui arriver ; ici même il en marque le moment exact par ces mots : Voici, nous montons à Jérusalem. Et pourtant il y monte !

Manifestation émouvante d'un courage héroïque et de l'amour qui se dévoue ; (Jean 15.13) preuve évidente de l'absolue nécessité morale de cette mort au-devant de laquelle il marche volontairement.

On l'a dit avec raison : si ce sacrifice n'était pas la rédemption du monde, il serait une sorte de suicide.

- Mais ici, comme dans toutes ces prédictions, Jésus s'efforce de faire resplendir aux yeux de ses disciples la lumière de la vie après les ténèbres de la mort : mais après trois jours il ressuscitera.
