What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? Why, when I looked for it to yield grapes, did it yield wild grapes?

Now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will take away its hedge, and it will be eaten up. I will break down its wall of it, and it will be trampled down.

Le développement moral de l'homme obéit à une double loi, selon que l'Esprit ou la chair dominent. Dans le premier cas, il a, et il reçoit toujours davantage, et il abonde : dans le second, il perd nécessairement même ce qu'il a, c'est-à-dire ce qui lui restait encore de vie religieuse et morale.
Luc dit : ce qu'il croit avoir. Luc 8.18 Cela lui est ôté, et par la force des choses, et par un jugement de Dieu.
Jésus montre l'application du même principe, dans la parabole des talents, (Matthieu 25.29) qui nous en fait très bien saisir le sens.
