Nous ne posséderons rien... : Notre participation à la conquête ne nous donnera aucun droit à réclamer une possession dans le pays de Canaan proprement dit.

De l'autre côté du Jourdain, à l'orient. Cette expression : mééber : de l'autre côté, signifie proprement : en passant de l'autre côté du Jourdain. Elle est employée, qu'il s'agisse de passer de l'Est à l'Ouest ou de l'Ouest à l'Est. Et précisément à cause de ce double sens est ajouté le mot : à l'orient, pour bien faire comprendre que ce terme est employé ici au point de vue du peuple, une fois qu'il sera établi dans le pays de Canaan.
