Pas un arbre touffu pour ainsi dire qui ne devienne l'occasion et le témoin d'un culte idolâtre.

C'est pourquoi vos filles... La corruption des enfants est la conséquence de l'idolâtrie des parents. Les termes de prostitution et d'adultère sont pris ici dans le sens propre. Dans la plupart des religions idolâtres, la prostitution proprement dite faisait partie des cérémonies du culte ; aussi, qui dit idolâtrie dit impureté ; c'est une association d'idées constante chez les prophètes.

Eux-mêmes : soit les pères et les maris, soit peut-être les sacrificateurs auxquels reviendrait ici le prophète. Dans les deux cas, comment s'étonner qu'un tel exemple soit suivi ?
