David prie pour la délivrance de ses ennemis. (Psaumes 59:1-7)
Il entrevoit aussi leur destruction. (Psaumes 59:8-17)

Dans ces versets nous percevons le cri de David, alors qu'il se trouve entouré d'ennemis dans sa propre maison ; c'est ce même cri, émis par Christ, lorsque plus tard le Seigneur est entouré par ses ennemis impitoyables ; le même cri de l'église, assaillie par les persécutions du monde ; ou celui du chrétien sous l'affliction de la tentation et de la persécution. Ceci nous indique à quel point nous devons prier journellement, avec ferveur, pour être défendus et délivrés de nos ennemis spirituels, des tentations de Satan et de la corruption de notre propre cœur.

Nous devrions craindre les souffrances qui nous sont envoyées ici-bas, sans toutefois être honteux de la haine qu'éprouvent à notre égard les ouvriers d'iniquité. Il n'y a rien d'étonnant de constater que Dieu n'ait pas la même opinion que les pécheurs quant à leur conduite ! Et là où il n'y a aucune crainte de Dieu, il ne peut y avoir de sécurité pour l'homme.

      20 Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came on the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
      21 When it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.
      22 Then went he also to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and he asked, "Where are Samuel and David?" One said, "Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah."
