La confusion de face : D'après le terme hébreu et le contexte, ce mot désigne la honte résultant du châtiment qui les a publiquement frappés ; comparez Esdras 9.7.

Habitants de Jérusalem : ceux qui formaient l'ancienne population de la capitale, à qui les prophètes ont autrefois parlé. Comparez par exemple Jérémie 35.13. Jérusalem est maintenant à Babylone.

Tout Israël : ce terme comprend avec les habitants de Jérusalem et du pays de Juda ceux des dix tribus, dès longtemps captifs.
