Contraste intentionnel avec le verset 13. A la montagne de l'assemblée et aux profondeurs du septentrion sont opposés les enfers et les profondeurs de la fosse. Le mot hébreu bor signifie : fosse, citerne, puits. Il ne peut ici désigner le tombeau, puisque le monarque chaldéen n'a pas de sépulture (versets 18 et suivants) ; c'est donc un autre nom du schéol (verset 9), cette prison souterraine où les morts descendent en traversant la fosse et qui est comme au fond de celle-ci.

      3 It will happen in the day that Yahweh will give you rest from your sorrow, from your trouble, and from the hard service in which you were made to serve,
      4 that you will take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say, "How the oppressor has ceased! The golden city has ceased!"
