Le prophète fait maintenant une série de suppositions :

  1. le cas d'un père juste
  2. celui d'un fils injuste de cet homme juste
  3. celui d'un fils juste de ce fils injuste
et au moyen de l'exemple de ce père, de ce fils et de ce petit-fils il met en lumière, le vrai principe du gouvernement divin.

5 à 10 Le père juste.

Le droit : ce que Dieu a déclaré juste dans le code ; ce que nul ne peut omettre sans se constituer criminel. Le terme de justice nous semble exprimer quelque chose de plus large et de plus spirituel. Il renferme en général tout ce que dicte à l'homme un sentiment naturel d'équité et d'humanité.
