39 à 41 Après ce triage auront lieu la véritable rentrée et l'établissement définitif du peuple fidèle en Canaan. Le retour et le rétablissement après l'exil n'étaient que d'imparfaits et d'insuffisants préludes de ces grâces suprêmes, comme l'arrêt dans une oasis avant l'arrivée dans la patrie.

Allez, servez chacun... Cette parole s'applique au moment présent : Allez donc présentement où votre cœur vous pousse, aux divinités des peuples qui vous entourent... Canaan n'en deviendra pas moins un jour le théâtre d'un culte saint, offert au Dieu saint par un peuple saint. Je le veux, et cela sera.
Les neuf derniers chapitres d'Ezéchiel seront le développement du tableau esquissé dans ces versets. Et il est à remarquer que dans ce morceau si important, le rétablissement du temple après le retour de l'exil est aussi complètement passé sous silence que, dans notre passage, la première rentrée du peuple ; là aussi le prophète se préoccupe uniquement du sanctuaire final dont les formes et les mesures figurent la perfection spirituelle du culte parfait.
