A la ruine de la Phénicie est opposée la restauration d'Israël. Comme le prophète voit, d'un côté, dans le coup dont va être frappée Sidon, le principe de sa décadence future, ainsi, d'autre part, il voit dans le retour prochain d'Israël le commencement de son élévation finale.

Je me sanctifierai. L'Eternel se sanctifie en l'homme de deux manières : en celui qui refuse de le servir, par le châtiment, c'est le sens de cette expression verset 22, et en celui qui lui rend l'hommage de l'adoration et de l'obéissance, par le salut. Ce sera ici la part d'Israël. En face de ce contraste si clairement annoncé et si merveilleusement réalisé dans l'histoire, on ne devrait pas parler, à l'occasion de ces chapitres, de prophétie non accomplie.
