Genèse 12.2

Le sacrifice que doit faire Abraham est compensé par une magnifique promesse : il sera à la fois l'objet et l'instrument d'abondantes bénédictions. Les trois premiers membres du verset décrivent les bénédictions dont il sera l'objet ; le quatrième introduit les bénédictions dont il sera l'instrument (verset 3).

Une grande nation : en compensation de sa famille qu'il doit quitter.

Je te bénirai... Promesse de prospérité spirituelle et matérielle d'abord, puis de gloire ; c'est pour lui-même.

Tu seras une bénédiction, littéralement, sois bénédiction : instrument de bénédiction pour les autres.

      2 I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.

      16 I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then your seed may also be numbered.

      14 When Abram heard that his relative was taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued as far as Dan.
      15 He divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and struck them, and pursued them to Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

      18 since Abraham has surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed in him?

      4 and give you the blessing of Abraham, to you, and to your seed with you, that you may inherit the land where you travel, which God gave to Abraham."
      14 Your seed will be as the dust of the earth, and you will spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. In you and in your seed will all the families of the earth be blessed.
