31-35 Les quatre premiers fils de Léa

Haïe : dans un sens relatif (comparez verset 30) ; Jacob ne lui témoignait pas la même tendresse qu'à Rachel.

Rendit féconde. Dieu rétablit l'égalité entre les deux femmes, en accordant à Léa seule la bénédiction que toute femme désire, et qui lui donne du prix aux yeux de son mari.

Les noms que Léa a donnés à ses enfants, expriment son respect envers Dieu, et envers son mari. Ruben, ce qui signifie « voyez, un fils », manifeste cette pensée : « Maintenant mon mari m'aimera » ; Lévi, « attachement ou joint », lui fait espérer ce fait : « maintenant mon mari s'attachera à moi ». L'affection entre époux est à la fois un devoir et un réconfort mutuels ; dans un couple, les deux partenaires doivent chercher à se plaire mutuellement, 1Corinthiens 7:33,34.

Léa est reconnaissante envers Dieu, de ce qu'Il a écouté sa prière. Dans tous les cas, où nous avons besoin d'être soulagés et délivrés, en particulier lors de nos afflictions, nous devons solliciter Dieu. Le quatrième fils de Léa fut appelé Juda, ou « louange », ce qui explique la louange de sa mère : « maintenant, je louerai l'Éternel ». Quel que soit le sujet qui nous amène à nous réjouir, il doit nous amener à rendre grâce.

Les récentes bénédictions reçues devraient nous inciter vivement à remercier Dieu pour toutes celles qu'Il nous a déjà accordées ; dorénavant nous louerons davantage le Seigneur, d'une louange encore plus vive. Toutes nos adorations doivent être centrées vers Christ, Celui qui les reçoit, notre Médiateur. Il est descendu en chair Celui qui se nomme Merveilleux, Celui qui doit faire l'objet de nos louanges. Christ a-t-il transformé mon cœur ? Alors, je pourrai L'adorer !
