La preuve que Moïse les accuse (car), c'est que, tout en se glorifiant de lui, ils ne le croient pas, d'une foi éclairée et vivante : Si vous croyiez Moïse...

Et leur incrédulité à l'égard de Moïse est, à son tour, la cause pour laquelle ils ne croient pas Jésus.

En effet, les écrits de Moïse sont remplis de lui.

Les mots : Il a écrit de moi ne doivent pas s'entendre seulement de certaines déclarations prophétiques telles que Genèse 3.1 ; 5 ; Deutéronome 18.15,18 et autres ; mais de tous les types, les sacrifices, les cérémonies symboliques du culte, qui avaient en vue le futur Libérateur du peuple de Dieu. Il aurait même suffi de saisir la spiritualité et la sainteté de la loi pour comprendre qu'elle ne serait jamais accomplie qu'en Celui qui devait venir. (Comparer Luc 24.27,44)
