Une fête : une réjouissance à l'occasion de la vendange ; comparez celle que prescrivait la loi pour la fin des récoltes (Lévitique 23.39) et à laquelle se rattachait un repas sacré. Les hommes de Sichem paraissent avoir célébré cette fête à la manière païenne et dans la maison de l'idole adorée sous le nom de Baal-Berith. Dans l'échauffement du repas, ils parlèrent mal d'Abimélec, de la domination duquel ils étaient las.
