Quand tous serez entrés : expression caractérisant la législation du désert.

Une gerbe : d'après Josèphe et Philon, une gerbe d'orge. Dans les parties les plus chaudes de la Palestine l'orge est déjà mûre au milieu d'avril ou au commencement de mai, tandis que le froment ne mûrit que trois semaines plus tard.

Les Romains ouvraient la moisson en offrant des sacrifices, spécialement à Cérès. Cet hommage de reconnaissance et de dépendance ne pouvait manquer chez le peuple de Dieu. Le texte n'indique pas ce qu'on faisait de la gerbe après l'avoir balancée devant l'autel ; il est probable que, comme les autres offrandes balancées, elle appartenait aux sacrificateurs.
