Si quelqu’un s’est laissé aller de façon irréfléchie à prononcer un serment — qu’il lui fasse tort ou qu’il soit à son avantage — quel que puisse être ce serment, dès qu’il s’en rendra compte, il sera coupable.

Troisième cas. Serments inconsidérés, formules de serment employées d'une manière frivole et par entraînement des lèvres.

Du mal ou du bien. Ce n'est pas la nature de l'acte auquel on s'est engagé qui rend coupable dans ce cas, mais la manière légère dont on l'a fait, parce qu'elle témoigne d'un manque de respect envers Dieu. Soit qu'on ait dû être rendu attentif à la chose, ou que l'on s'en soit aperçu soi-même, il y a culpabilité.
