Ce verset motive le précédent (car) ; il donne une double raison de ce fait que le mariage n'existera plus : c'est d'abord, qu'étant immortels, les rachetés n'auront plus à perpétuer leur espèce, c'est, ensuite, qu'ils seront transformés en des êtres spirituels et célestes, semblables aux anges. (Comparer Matthieu 22.30)

La cause efficiente de cette transformation, c'est la résurrection elle-même, par laquelle Dieu crée de nouveau ses enfants à son image, en sorte que la régénération intérieure qui a lieu en eux ici-bas comprendra alors tout leur être, l'esprit, l'âme et le corps. (1Thessaloniciens 5.23)

C'est ce que le texte exprime par cet hébraïsme : être fils de la résurrection, d'où il suit que les ressuscités sont fils de Dieu, dans un sens spécial et complet. (Comparer 1Jean 3.2)
