Le terme de l'original comporte quelque chose d'extraordinaire, de surnaturel. (Comparer verset 31, note ; Jean 20.19,26)
C'est ce qui explique l'impression produite (verset 37) sur ces mêmes hommes qui venaient d'exprimer (verset 34) leur joyeuse assurance de la résurrection du Seigneur.
Cette apparition de Jésus-Christ à tous les disciples assemblés est la même que Jean a rapportée Jean 20.19 et suivants
Les mots : et leur dit : La paix soit avec vous ! manquent dans D seul et dans l'Itala.
Tischendorf et la plupart des critiques et des exégètes les omettent comme suspects d'avoir été empruntés à Jean 20.19.
Beaucoup de pensées gênantes et préoccupantes sur la personne de Christ proviennent d'erreurs de connaissance concernant Sa personne. Toutes les pensées embarrassantes de notre esprit sont connues du Seigneur Jésus et l’attristent...
Le Seigneur reprocha à Ses disciples leur incrédulité. Tous les évènements relatifs à la crucifixion se sont réalisés conformément à ce qui avait été annoncé par les prophètes : la mort de Jésus à la croix était nécessaire, pour le salut des pécheurs. Désormais, tous les hommes doivent recevoir le message prouvant la nécessité d’une réelle repentance, pour le pardon de leurs péchés. Cela devrait motiver toute recherche des bénédictions qui peuvent en résulter, par la foi dans le Nom de Jésus.
Christ, par son Esprit, œuvre dans notre cœur. Même le meilleur des hommes a besoin toutefois de Lui ouvrir le sien. Pour vraiment connaître la Personne de Christ, il faut lire et « assimiler » l'Écriture !
