La nuée les couvrit, grec les ombragea.

Les Septante emploient ce verbe dans Exode 40.35, où il est dit que "la nuée se tenait sur le tabernacle."

Ces derniers mots : écoutezle, qui ne se trouvent pas dans la parole divine adressée à Jésus lors de son baptême, (comparez Deutéronome 18.15) sont d'une signification profonde.

Appliqués à Jésus, dont la dignité de Fils de Dieu vient d'être proclamée, ils montrent le but principal de toute cette scène de la transfiguration.
