1 In those days, John the Baptizer came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,2 "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!"3 For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight."4 Now John himself wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.5 Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him.6 They were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism, he said to them, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?8 Therefore bring forth fruit worthy of repentance!9 Don't think to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father,' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.10 "Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn't bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.11 I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."Le baptĂȘme de JĂ©sus
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.14 But John would have hindered him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?"15 But Jesus, answering, said to him, "Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed him.16 Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.17 Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." -

1 En ce temps-lĂ parut Jean Baptiste, prĂȘchant dans le dĂ©sert de JudĂ©e.2 Il disait : Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux est proche.3 Jean est celui qui avait Ă©tĂ© annoncĂ© par ĂsaĂŻe, le prophĂšte, lorsqu'il dit : C'est ici la voix de celui qui crie dans le dĂ©sert : PrĂ©parez le chemin du Seigneur, Aplanissez ses sentiers.4 Jean avait un vĂȘtement de poils de chameau, et une ceinture de cuir autour des reins. Il se nourrissait de sauterelles et de miel sauvage.5 Les habitants de JĂ©rusalem, de toute la JudĂ©e et de tout le pays des environs du Jourdain, se rendaient auprĂšs de lui ;6 et, confessant leurs pĂ©chĂ©s, ils se faisaient baptiser par lui dans le fleuve du Jourdain.7 Mais, voyant venir Ă son baptĂȘme beaucoup de pharisiens et de sadducĂ©ens, il leur dit : Races de vipĂšres, qui vous a appris Ă fuir la colĂšre Ă venir ?8 Produisez donc du fruit digne de la repentance,9 et ne prĂ©tendez pas dire en vous-mĂȘmes : Nous avons Abraham pour pĂšre ! Car je vous dĂ©clare que de ces pierres-ci Dieu peut susciter des enfants Ă Abraham.10 DĂ©jĂ la cognĂ©e est mise Ă la racine des arbres : tout arbre donc qui ne produit pas de bons fruits sera coupĂ© et jetĂ© au feu.11 Moi, je vous baptise d'eau, pour vous amener Ă la repentance ; mais celui qui vient aprĂšs moi est plus puissant que moi, et je ne suis pas digne de porter ses souliers. Lui, il vous baptisera du Saint Esprit et de feu.12 Il a son van Ă la main ; il nettoiera son aire, et il amassera son blĂ© dans le grenier, mais il brĂ»lera la paille dans un feu qui ne s'Ă©teint point.Le baptĂȘme de JĂ©sus
13 Alors JĂ©sus vint de la GalilĂ©e au Jourdain vers Jean, pour ĂȘtre baptisĂ© par lui.14 Mais Jean s'y opposait, en disant : C'est moi qui ai besoin d'ĂȘtre baptisĂ© par toi, et tu viens Ă moi !15 JĂ©sus lui rĂ©pondit : Laisse faire maintenant, car il est convenable que nous accomplissions ainsi tout ce qui est juste. Et Jean ne lui rĂ©sista plus.16 DĂšs que JĂ©sus eut Ă©tĂ© baptisĂ©, il sortit de l'eau. Et voici, les cieux s'ouvrirent, et il vit l'Esprit de Dieu descendre comme une colombe et venir sur lui.17 Et voici, une voix fit entendre des cieux ces paroles : Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimĂ©, en qui j'ai mis toute mon affection. -

Alors il ne s'y opposa plus.16 Et quand JĂ©sus eut Ă©tĂ© baptisĂ©, il sortit aussitĂŽt de l'eau ; et Ă l'instant les cieux s'ouvrirent Ă lui, et il vit l'Esprit de Dieu descendant comme une colombe et venant sur lui.17 Et voici une voix des cieux, qui dit : Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimĂ©, en qui j'ai pris plaisir. -
