Les frontières du royaume de Sihon dont s'emparent les Israélites sont nettement indiquées : l'Arnon au sud, le Jabbok au nord et le pays des Ammonites à l'est, au nord du désert par lequel arrivait le peuple.

La frontière des fils d'Ammon... Le but de cette remarque est obscur ; l'auteur veut sans doute expliquer pourquoi les Amorrhéens avaient été empêchés de s'étendre plus à l'est.
