8 à 12 Second péché : l'alliance avec les nations païennes.

Un gâteau qu'on n'a pas retourné : qu'on a laissé brûler et qui, par conséquent n'est plus bon qu'à être jeté.

Israël était, pour ainsi dire, un gâteau cuit seulement d'un côté, inutilisable ; il y avait, en même temps, en lui, un mélange d'idolâtrie et d'adoration de l'Éternel. Le peuple était près de sa fin, comme les cheveux gris d'un vieillard, au terme de sa vie, et il n'en était même pas conscient.

L'orgueil, qui éloigne de la loi divine, conduit à l'auto flatterie. La miséricorde et la grâce de Dieu sont les seuls refuges dont les pécheurs ignorent complètement l'existence. Bien qu'ils puissent hurler leur terreur sous forme de pseudo prières, ils ne s'adressent que rarement à Dieu avec leur cœur. Ce type de prière « charnelle » n'a pour but que l'assouvissement de leurs convoitises. Leurs recherches de sentiments, de pensées ou de vices vers les différentes sectes ne peuvent que les éloigner de Christ et de la sainteté. Tels sont notre penchant naturel et notre orientation systématique si nous sommes livrés à nous-mêmes.

Crée en nous un cœur pur, O Dieu et renouvelle en nous un esprit bien disposé !
