Cantique pour la route vers la demeure de l’Eternel. Quand l’Eternel a ramené les captifs de *Sion, nous avons cru rêver.

1 à 3 La joie du retour de Babylone.

Ceux qui revinrent à Sion, littéralement : le retour de Sion. Le mot abstrait retour, dans l'acception qu'il a ici, est analogue à ceux de refuge ou d'émigration, employés en français pour désigner l'ensemble des réfugiés de la Réforme ou des émigrés de la période révolutionnaire.

Comme des gens qui songent : qui croient rêver, tant les événements qu'ils voient s'accomplir sont extraordinaires et inespérés.

Ceux qui reviennent de captivité doivent être reconnaissants. (Psaumes 126:1-3)

Il est bon d'observer, pour notre édification, comment Dieu délivre l'église. Nous devrions voir, en parallèle, la valeur de la rédemption qui nous protège de la colère divine à venir, de la puissance du péché et de Satan ! Quand le pécheur, convaincu de sa culpabilité et de la position dangereuse qui en découle, porte son regard vers le Sauveur crucifié, il reçoit la paix dans son cœur. Il ne perçoit qu'une mesure de la puissance qui le sépare du péché et constate aussi toute la véracité de l'opportunité du salut.

      1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
      2 "Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, 'Yahweh, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
