Je me sens bouillonnant d’inspiration pour le beau discours que j’ai à faire : je vais réciter mon poème pour le roi. Je voudrais le dire avec autant d’art que le graveur quand il trace ses lettres.

Des paroles pleines de charme... Saisi de la beauté du tableau qui se présente à lui, le psalmiste voudrait la rendre en paroles dignes d'un aussi grand sujet.

La plume : proprement le style, poinçon de métal dont les anciens se servaient pour écrire sur des tablettes enduites de cire.

Habile : alerte, prompt, capable d'exprimer la richesse de pensées qui s'agitent dans son esprit.
