Ces cuves reposaient sur des socles mobiles, dont 1Rois 7.27-37 nous donne une description détaillée, tandis que notre auteur se borne à les mentionner en passant, au versets 14.

Cinq à droite et cinq à gauche : comparez la note et le plan 1Rois 7.39.

La mer servait aux sacrificateurs... comparez la note de 1Rois 7.23-26. Notre verset distingue expressément, ce qui n'a pas été fait dans la note 1Rois 7.23-26, l'usage des dix petites cuves, qui servaient à purifier les objets nécessaires aux holocaustes, de celui de la grande cuve, réservée aux ablutions des prêtres.
