L'ordre dont il est ici question n'est pas celui de prêcher l'Evangile à tous les peuples, (Actes 1.8,Matthieu 28.19) car il s'agit d'un message adressé au peuple d'Israël et qui présente Jésus principalement comme juge.

Faut-il admettre avec Meyer que Pierre fait allusion à un ordre spécial de Jésus, qui ne serait pas rapporté dans les évangiles ?

Cela n'est point nécessaire. Jésus s'est souvent déclaré le Juge suprême.

Il en résultait pour ses apôtres l'obligation de le prêcher et de l'attester comme tel. (Matthieu 25.31 et suivants ; Jean 5.27 ; comparer : Actes 17.31 ; 2Timothée 4.1 ; 1Pierre 4.5)

- Les vivants et les morts sont ceux qui vivront et ceux qui seront morts à l'avènement du Seigneur.
