On venait de lire une section du Pentateuque et une des prophètes, probablement Deutéronome 1 et Esaïe 1.

Paul rattache à ces péricopes sa prédication de l'Evangile ; Deutéronome 1 inspire la première partie de son discours, (verset 18, note) dans laquelle il jette un coup d'œil rapide sur l'histoire de son peuple ; ainsi l'avait fait Etienne. (Actes 7)

Paul arrive ensuite, d'une manière toute naturelle, à annoncer Jésus sa mort, sa résurrection et la rémission des péchés, offerte en ce Sauveur, et qui avait été promise dans Esaïe 1.18.
