La répétition des mots ainsi a dit annonce une aggravation de la menace du verset 11. S'il y en a de ces riches qui échappent, ce ne seront que quelques exceptions. L'image est celle d'un agneau déjà emporté par le lion et que le berger réussit à lui arracher, mais tout mutilé.

Au coin d'un lit : allusion à l'existence confortable et luxueuse des grands de Samarie. Dans les bonnes maisons orientales, on a pour lits des divans à l'angle desquels on s'assied très commodément.
