Le message adressé à l'Église de Sardes

Καὶ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ τῆς ἐν Σάρδεσιν ἐκκλησίας γράψον· Τάδε λέγει ὁ ἔχων τὰ ἑπτὰ πνεύματα τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἀστέρας· Οἶδά σου τὰ ἔργα, ὅτι ὄνομα ἔχεις ὅτι ζῇς, καὶ νεκρὸς εἶ.

γίνου γρηγορῶν, καὶ στήρισον τὰ λοιπὰ ἃ ἔμελλον ἀποθανεῖν, οὐ γὰρ εὕρηκά σου τὰ ἔργα πεπληρωμένα ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ μου·
3
μνημόνευε οὖν πῶς εἴληφας καὶ ἤκουσας καὶ τήρει, καὶ μετανόησον· ἐὰν οὖν μὴ γρηγορήσῃς, ἥξω ὡς κλέπτης, καὶ οὐ μὴ γνῷς ποίαν ὥραν ἥξω ἐπὶ σέ·

ἀλλὰ ἔχεις ὀλίγα ὀνόματα ἐν Σάρδεσιν ἃ οὐκ ἐμόλυναν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν, καὶ περιπατήσουσιν μετ’ ἐμοῦ ἐν λευκοῖς, ὅτι ἄξιοί εἰσιν.

ὁ νικῶν οὕτως περιβαλεῖται ἐν ἱματίοις λευκοῖς, καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐξαλείψω τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς βίβλου τῆς ζωῆς, καὶ ὁμολογήσω τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἐνώπιον τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀγγέλων αὐτοῦ.

Καὶ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ τῆς ἐν Φιλαδελφείᾳ ἐκκλησίας γράψον· Τάδε λέγει ὁ ἅγιος, ὁ ἀληθινός, ὁ ἔχων τὴν κλεῖν Δαυίδ, ὁ ἀνοίγων καὶ οὐδεὶς κλείσει, καὶ κλείων καὶ οὐδεὶς ἀνοίγει·

Οἶδά σου τὰ ἔργα — ἰδοὺ δέδωκα ἐνώπιόν σου θύραν ἠνεῳγμένην, ἣν οὐδεὶς δύναται κλεῖσαι αὐτήν — ὅτι μικρὰν ἔχεις δύναμιν, καὶ ἐτήρησάς μου τὸν λόγον, καὶ οὐκ ἠρνήσω τὸ ὄνομά μου.

ἰδοὺ διδῶ ἐκ τῆς συναγωγῆς τοῦ Σατανᾶ, τῶν λεγόντων ἑαυτοὺς Ἰουδαίους εἶναι, καὶ οὐκ εἰσὶν ἀλλὰ ψεύδονται — ἰδοὺ ποιήσω αὐτοὺς ἵνα ἥξουσιν καὶ προσκυνήσουσιν ἐνώπιον τῶν ποδῶν σου, καὶ γνῶσιν ὅτι ἐγὼ ἠγάπησά σε.

ὅτι ἐτήρησας τὸν λόγον τῆς ὑπομονῆς μου, κἀγώ σε τηρήσω ἐκ τῆς ὥρας τοῦ πειρασμοῦ τῆς μελλούσης ἔρχεσθαι ἐπὶ τῆς οἰκουμένης ὅλης, πειράσαι τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.

ἔρχομαι ταχύ· κράτει ὃ ἔχεις, ἵνα μηδεὶς λάβῃ τὸν στέφανόν σου.
12
ὁ νικῶν ποιήσω αὐτὸν στῦλον ἐν τῷ ναῷ τοῦ θεοῦ μου, καὶ ἔξω οὐ μὴ ἐξέλθῃ ἔτι, καὶ γράψω ἐπ’ αὐτὸν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ θεοῦ μου καὶ τὸ ὄνομα τῆς πόλεως τοῦ θεοῦ μου, τῆς καινῆς Ἰερουσαλήμ, ἡ καταβαίνουσα ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ μου, καὶ τὸ ὄνομά μου τὸ καινόν.

Καὶ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ τῆς ἐν Λαοδικείᾳ ἐκκλησίας γράψον· Τάδε λέγει ὁ Ἀμήν, ὁ μάρτυς ὁ πιστὸς καὶ ἀληθινός, ἡ ἀρχὴ τῆς κτίσεως τοῦ θεοῦ·

Οἶδά σου τὰ ἔργα, ὅτι οὔτε ψυχρὸς εἶ οὔτε ζεστός. ὄφελον ψυχρὸς ἦς ἢ ζεστός.
16
οὕτως, ὅτι χλιαρὸς εἶ καὶ οὔτε ζεστὸς οὔτε ψυχρός, μέλλω σε ἐμέσαι ἐκ τοῦ στόματός μου.
17
ὅτι λέγεις ὅτι Πλούσιός εἰμι καὶ πεπλούτηκα καὶ οὐδὲν χρείαν ἔχω, καὶ οὐκ οἶδας ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ ταλαίπωρος καὶ ἐλεεινὸς καὶ πτωχὸς καὶ τυφλὸς καὶ γυμνός,

συμβουλεύω σοι ἀγοράσαι παρ’ ἐμοῦ χρυσίον πεπυρωμένον ἐκ πυρὸς ἵνα πλουτήσῃς, καὶ ἱμάτια λευκὰ ἵνα περιβάλῃ καὶ μὴ φανερωθῇ ἡ αἰσχύνη τῆς γυμνότητός σου, καὶ κολλούριον ἐγχρῖσαι τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς σου ἵνα βλέπῃς.
19
ἐγὼ ὅσους ἐὰν φιλῶ ἐλέγχω καὶ παιδεύω· ζήλευε οὖν καὶ μετανόησον.
20
ἰδοὺ ἕστηκα ἐπὶ τὴν θύραν καὶ κρούω· ἐάν τις ἀκούσῃ τῆς φωνῆς μου καὶ ἀνοίξῃ τὴν θύραν, καὶ εἰσελεύσομαι πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ δειπνήσω μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐτὸς μετ’ ἐμοῦ.

ὁ νικῶν δώσω αὐτῷ καθίσαι μετ’ ἐμοῦ ἐν τῷ θρόνῳ μου, ὡς κἀγὼ ἐνίκησα καὶ ἐκάθισα μετὰ τοῦ πατρός μου ἐν τῷ θρόνῳ αὐτοῦ.

« Écris à l’ange de l’Église qui est à Sardes : « Voici le message de celui qui a les sept esprits de Dieu et les sept étoiles. Je connais tout ce que tu fais. Les gens croient que tu es vivant, mais tu es mort !

Réveille-toi ! Rends plus solide ce qui reste vivant en toi mais risque de mourir. J’ai constaté que tes actions ne sont pas parfaites aux yeux de mon Dieu.
3
Rappelle-toi donc l’enseignement que tu as reçu et entendu. Garde-le et change ta vie. Si tu ne te réveilles pas, je viendrai te prendre par surprise comme un voleur. Tu ne sauras pas à quel moment je viendrai.
4
Pourtant, quelques-uns parmi vous, à Sardes, n’ont pas sali leurs vêtements. Ceux-là viendront avec moi en vêtements blancs, parce qu’ils le méritent.
5
Ainsi, les vainqueurs porteront des vêtements blancs. Je n’effacerai pas leur nom du livre de vie, j’affirmerai devant mon Père et devant ses anges : “Ces personnes m’appartiennent.”

« Écris à l’ange de l’Église qui est à Philadelphie : « Voici le message de celui qui est saint et qui dit la vérité. Il tient la clé du roi David, il ouvre et personne ne peut fermer, il ferme et personne ne peut ouvrir.

« Je connais tout ce que tu fais. Regarde : j’ai placé devant toi une porte ouverte, personne ne peut la fermer. Tu n’as pas beaucoup de force, pourtant tu as gardé ma parole et tu n’as pas dit que tu ne me connaissais pas.

Les gens de la communauté de Satan disent qu’ils sont juifs, mais ils ne le sont pas, ils mentent. Eh bien, voici ce que je leur ferai : je les forcerai à se mettre à genoux devant toi, et ils reconnaîtront que je t’aime.
10
Tu as gardé fidèlement ma parole, alors moi aussi, je te garderai au moment du malheur. Oui, le malheur viendra sur le monde entier, pour voir la valeur des habitants de la terre.

Je viens bientôt. Tiens solidement ce que tu as, ainsi personne ne prendra ta récompense.
12
Les vainqueurs, j’en ferai des colonnes dans le temple de mon Dieu, et ils n’en sortiront jamais. Sur ces vainqueurs, j’écrirai le nom de mon Dieu et le nom de la ville de mon Dieu. Cette ville, c’est la Jérusalem nouvelle, qui descend du ciel, envoyée par mon Dieu. Sur eux, j’écrirai aussi le nom nouveau que j’ai reçu.

« Écris à l’ange de l’Église qui est à Laodicée : « Voici le message de celui qui est vraiment le Oui de Dieu. Il est le témoin fidèle qui dit la vérité, il est à l’origine de tout ce que Dieu a créé.
15
Je connais tout ce que tu fais : tu n’es ni froid ni brûlant. Si seulement tu pouvais être froid ou brûlant !
16
Mais comme tu es tiède, ni froid ni brûlant, je vais te vomir de ma bouche.
17
Tu dis : je suis riche, j’ai gagné beaucoup d’argent, je n’ai besoin de rien. Mais en fait, tu es malheureux, tu mérites la pitié, tu es pauvre, aveugle et nu, et tu ne sais même pas cela.
18
C’est pourquoi, voici ce que je te conseille : achète chez moi de l’or que le feu a rendu pur, et tu deviendras riche. Achète des vêtements blancs pour te couvrir, ainsi tu ne seras pas nu et tu n’auras plus honte. Achète un médicament pour le mettre dans tes yeux, et tu verras clair.

Tous ceux que j’aime, je les corrige et je les punis. Montre donc plus d’ardeur et change ta vie !
20
Voilà : je me tiens à la porte et je frappe. Si quelqu’un entend ma voix et ouvre la porte, j’entrerai chez lui, je mangerai avec lui et il mangera avec moi.
21
Moi, je suis vainqueur et je suis allé m’asseoir avec mon Père sur son siège royal. Alors, les vainqueurs, je les ferai asseoir aussi sur mon siège royal.

"And to the angel of the assembly in Sardis write: "He who has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars says these things: "I know your works, that you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.
2
Wake up, and keep the things that remain, which you were about to throw away, for I have found no works of yours perfected before my God.
3
Remember therefore how you have received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If therefore you won't watch, I will come as a thief, and you won't know what hour I will come upon you.
4
Nevertheless you have a few names in Sardis that did not defile their garments. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy.
5
He who overcomes will be arrayed in white garments, and I will in no way blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
6
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies.

"I know your works (behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one can shut), that you have a little power, and kept my word, and didn't deny my name.
9
Behold, I give of the synagogue of Satan, of those who say they are Jews, and they are not, but lie. Behold, I will make them to come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
10
Because you kept my command to endure, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, which is to come on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
11
I am coming quickly! Hold firmly that which you have, so that no one takes your crown.
12
He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will go out from there no more. I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God, and my own new name.
13
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies.

"I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot.
16
So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth.
17
Because you say, 'I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing;' and don't know that you are the wretched one, miserable, poor, blind, and naked;
18
I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich; and white garments, that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.
19
As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.
20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.
21
He who overcomes, I will give to him to sit down with me on my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne.
22
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies."
