En s'appropriant par la foi l'efficace du sacrifice de Christ, dont "le sang purifie de tout péché." (1Jean 1.7)

- La forme dialoguée donne à l'explication de la vision (versets 13-17) un intérêt dramatique. Comme dans Apocalypse 5.5, c'est l'un des anciens, des représentants de l'Église sauvée, (Apocalypse 4.4, note) qui interpelle le voyant, celui-ci répond avec déférence (mon seigneur), en sollicitant indirectement l'interprétation de la prophétie (tu le sais).

La grande tribulation est avant tout, dans la pensée de Jean, celle que Jésus avait prédite pour les derniers temps (Matthieu 24.21 et suivants) et qui se présentera dans la suite de l'Apocalypse comme une persécution générale. Mais l'opposition du monde et les souffrances de toute nature qui nous assaillent ici-bas font que pour tout chrétien, la vie est, à des degrés divers, la grande tribulation.
