Les Assyriens (Tiglath-Piléser) ont déjà pillé et démembré le royaume des dix tribus (8.4, note). Des pierres sont tombées de l'édifice. Mais on se flatte de le reconstruire plus solide qu'auparavant. L'image est tirée de l'état présent du pays, où l'on s'occupe à rebâtir les villes détruites par l'ennemi.

Le sycomore est une espèce de mûrier très commun dans les parties basses de la Palestine. Le bois de cèdre a bien plus de valeur.
