World English Bible Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God. Aaron came with all of the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law before God.

Comme hommage à Jéhova, Jéthro offre un holocauste ; puis il y ajoute des sacrifices d'actions de grùces en vue d'un repas sacré auquel il invite les représentants d'Israël. Manger ensemble a été de tout temps un signe d'alliance et de bonne amitié. Comparez GenÚse 31.46

Aaron ayant coopéré avec Moïse à la délivrance jouissait déjà d'une considération particuliÚre.

Sur les Anciens, voir à 3.16 ; 4.29, etc. Cette charge existant déjà en Egypte, s'était maintenue depuis la sortie.

Pourquoi MoĂŻse n'est-il pas nommé ? Sa prĂ©sence s'entend-elle d'elle-mĂȘme ? C'est peu probable ; le narrateur ne redoute pas les dĂ©tails. Etait-il retenu par les soins du gouvernement du peuple ? Ou lui rĂ©pugnait-il de prendre part Ă  un sacrifice qui Ă©tait offert Ă  JĂ©hova, non en sa qualitĂ© de Dieu unique, mais seulement en qualitĂ© de premier des dieux ?
