Moïse et Aaron chez le Pharaon

6 וַיְצַ֥ו פַּרְעֹ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא אֶת־הַנֹּגְשִׂ֣ים בָּעָ֔ם וְאֶת־שֹׁטְרָ֖יו לֵאמֹֽר׃7 לֹ֣א תֹאסִפ֞וּן לָתֵ֨ת תֶּ֧בֶן לָעָ֛ם לִלְבֹּ֥ן הַלְּבֵנִ֖ים כִּתְמ֣וֹל שִׁלְשֹׁ֑ם הֵ֚ם יֵֽלְכ֔וּ וְקֹשְׁשׁ֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם תֶּֽבֶן׃8 וְאֶת־מַתְכֹּ֨נֶת הַלְּבֵנִ֜ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֵם֩ עֹשִׂ֨ים תְּמ֤וֹל שִׁלְשֹׁם֙ תָּשִׂ֣ימוּ עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם לֹ֥א תִגְרְע֖וּ מִמֶּ֑נּוּ כִּֽי־נִרְפִּ֣ים הֵ֔ם עַל־כֵּ֗ן הֵ֤ם צֹֽעֲקִים֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר נֵלְכָ֖ה נִזְבְּחָ֥ה לֵאלֹהֵֽינוּ׃9 תִּכְבַּ֧ד הָעֲבֹדָ֛ה עַל־הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים וְיַעֲשׂוּ־בָ֑הּ וְאַל־יִשְׁע֖וּ בְּדִבְרֵי־שָֽׁקֶר׃10 וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ נֹגְשֵׂ֤י הָעָם֙ וְשֹׁ֣טְרָ֔יו וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ אֶל־הָעָ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר פַּרְעֹ֔ה אֵינֶ֛נִּי נֹתֵ֥ן לָכֶ֖ם תֶּֽבֶן׃11 אַתֶּ֗ם לְכ֨וּ קְח֤וּ לָכֶם֙ תֶּ֔בֶן מֵאֲשֶׁ֖ר תִּמְצָ֑אוּ כִּ֣י אֵ֥ין נִגְרָ֛ע מֵעֲבֹדַתְכֶ֖ם דָּבָֽר׃12 וַיָּ֥פֶץ הָעָ֖ם בְּכָל־אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם לְקֹשֵׁ֥שׁ קַ֖שׁ לַתֶּֽבֶן׃13 וְהַנֹּגְשִׂ֖ים אָצִ֣ים לֵאמֹ֑ר כַּלּ֤וּ מַעֲשֵׂיכֶם֙ דְּבַר־י֣וֹם בְּיוֹמ֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר בִּהְי֥וֹת הַתֶּֽבֶן׃14 וַיֻּכּ֗וּ שֹֽׁטְרֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־שָׂ֣מוּ עֲלֵהֶ֔ם נֹגְשֵׂ֥י פַרְעֹ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר מַדּ֡וּעַ לֹא֩ כִלִּיתֶ֨ם חָקְכֶ֤ם לִלְבֹּן֙ כִּתְמ֣וֹל שִׁלְשֹׁ֔ם גַּם־תְּמ֖וֹל גַּם־הַיּֽוֹם׃15 וַיָּבֹ֗אוּ שֹֽׁטְרֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיִּצְעֲק֥וּ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר לָ֧מָּה תַעֲשֶׂ֦ה כֹ֖ה לַעֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃16 תֶּ֗בֶן אֵ֤ין נִתָּן֙ לַעֲבָדֶ֔יךָ וּלְבֵנִ֛ים אֹמְרִ֥ים לָ֖נוּ עֲשׂ֑וּ וְהִנֵּ֧ה עֲבָדֶ֛יךָ מֻכִּ֖ים וְחָטָ֥את עַמֶּֽךָ׃17 וַיֹּ֛אמֶר נִרְפִּ֥ים אַתֶּ֖ם נִרְפִּ֑ים עַל־כֵּן֙ אַתֶּ֣ם אֹֽמְרִ֔ים נֵלְכָ֖ה נִזְבְּחָ֥ה לַֽיהוָֽה׃18 וְעַתָּה֙ לְכ֣וּ עִבְד֔וּ וְתֶ֖בֶן לֹא־יִנָּתֵ֣ן לָכֶ֑ם וְתֹ֥כֶן לְבֵנִ֖ים תִּתֵּֽנּוּ׃19 וַיִּרְא֞וּ שֹֽׁטְרֵ֧י בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֹתָ֖ם בְּרָ֣ע לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹא־תִגְרְע֥וּ מִלִּבְנֵיכֶ֖ם דְּבַר־י֥וֹם בְּיוֹמֽוֹ׃20 וַֽיִּפְגְּעוּ֙ אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאֶֽת־אַהֲרֹ֔ן נִצָּבִ֖ים לִקְרָאתָ֑ם בְּצֵאתָ֖ם מֵאֵ֥ת פַּרְעֹֽה׃21 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם יֵ֧רֶא יְהוָ֛ה עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם וְיִשְׁפֹּ֑ט אֲשֶׁ֧ר הִבְאַשְׁתֶּ֣ם אֶת־רֵיחֵ֗נוּ בְּעֵינֵ֤י פַרְעֹה֙ וּבְעֵינֵ֣י עֲבָדָ֔יו לָֽתֶת־חֶ֥רֶב בְּיָדָ֖ם לְהָרְגֵֽנוּ׃22 וַיָּ֧שָׁב מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶל־יְהוָ֖ה וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֲדֹנָ֗י לָמָ֤ה הֲרֵעֹ֙תָה֙ לָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֔ה לָ֥מָּה זֶּ֖ה שְׁלַחְתָּֽנִי׃23 וּמֵאָ֞ז בָּ֤אתִי אֶל־פַּרְעֹה֙ לְדַבֵּ֣ר בִּשְׁמֶ֔ךָ הֵרַ֖ע לָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה וְהַצֵּ֥ל לֹא־הִצַּ֖לְתָּ אֶת־עַמֶּֽךָ׃ -

Le mécontentement de Pharaon ; Il augmente la charge des enfants d'Israël. (Exode 5:1-9)
Malgré l'état misérable du peuple d'Israël, Dieu désire le sauver au temps marqué, par l'intervention de Moïse. Pharaon méprisait toutes les requêtes de délivrance qui lui étaient adressées par le patriarche. Il ne connaissait pas Jéhovah, il ne le craignait nullement, ni ne l'aimait, ce qui le conduisait à refuser de lui obéir. Un tel orgueil de Pharaon, une telle cupidité et une si grande ambition politique ne pouvaient que le conduire à sa perte. Ce que Moïse et Aaron demandaient, était tout à fait raisonnable : ils n'ont fait que transmettre une demande pour laisser aller le peuple trois jours dans le désert.
La souffrance des enfants d'Israël ; La complainte de Moïse envers Dieu. (Exode 5:10-23)Il en va de même dans notre conduite chrétienne : nous devons réserver du temps pour offrir nos sacrifices spirituels au Seigneur, notre Dieu.
Le raisonnement de Pharaon, qui soutenait que les enfants d'Israël étaient paresseux et qu'en conséquence, il n'était pas pensable de les laisser partir pour offrir des sacrifices, était un raisonnement absurde. Il se méprenait complètement en voulant par ce fait, augmenter leur charge de travail.
De nos jours, il est fréquent de rencontrer des personnes plus disposées à formuler des reproches envers leurs voisins qui consacrent quelques heures au service de Dieu, plutôt que de blâmer les autres, qui s'adonnent aux plaisirs iniques de ce monde.
Ce refus de Pharaon était vraiment inhumain. Moïse et Aaron, dans cette lutte, en portaient indirectement les conséquences. Les persécuteurs prennent un certain plaisir à mépriser et à éprouver les serviteurs de Dieu. Le quota habituel de production de briques devait être atteint, malgré le manque de fourniture de paille nécessaire à leur fabrication. Une telle augmentation de charge de travail devait finalement être annoncée au peuple : elle ne pouvait que lui briser les reins, ou en cas de non accomplissement, provoquer la punition.
10 Les inspecteurs du peuple et les commissaires égyptiens étaient en fait très sévères. Cela montre bien à quel point nous devons prier afin d'être délivrés de la méchanceté humaine. Les commissaires des enfants d'Israël allèrent se plaindre à Pharaon, mais ce dernier se moqua d'eux. La ruse de Satan a souvent ridiculisé les serviteurs et les adorateurs de Dieu, en annonçant que leur travail n'était en fait destiné qu'aux paresseux et à ceux qui n'ont vraiment rien à faire ; en réalité, c'est une œuvre plus que prenante ici bas !Ceux qui consacrent assidûment leur vie au Seigneur, échapperont, plus tard, lors du jugement, à toute condamnation divine alors que devant les hommes, ici bas, il en est parfois tout autrement.
Les enfants d'Israël auraient dû s'humilier devant Dieu, étant honteux de leur état de pécheur ; mais au lieu de prendre cette attitude, ils se sont querellés avec ceux qui tentaient de les délivrer. Moïse s'est tourné à nouveau vers l'Éternel. Il savait ce qu'Il avait décrété et quelles étaient Ses directives ; la requête du patriarche était donc logique.
Quand nous nous posons des questions sur la manière d'exercer notre devoir, nous devrions nous tourner vers Dieu et Lui exposer notre problème par de ferventes prières. Les déceptions professionnelles ne doivent pas nous conduire à nous révolter contre Dieu, mais au contraire à nous faire réfléchir sur la raison de leur apparition.

1 Afterward Moses and Aaron came, and said to Pharaoh, "This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, 'Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.'"2 Pharaoh said, "Who is Yahweh, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I don't know Yahweh, and moreover I will not let Israel go."3 They said, "The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Yahweh, our God, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword."4 The king of Egypt said to them, "Why do you, Moses and Aaron, take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens!"5 Pharaoh said, "Behold, the people of the land are now many, and you make them rest from their burdens."Le Pharaon augmente le travail des Israélites
6 The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,7 "You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick, as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.8 The number of the bricks, which they made before, you require from them. You shall not diminish anything of it, for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying, 'Let us go and sacrifice to our God.'9 Let heavier work be laid on the men, that they may labor therein; and don't let them pay any attention to lying words."10 The taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying, "This is what Pharaoh says: 'I will not give you straw.11 Go yourselves, get straw where you can find it, for nothing of your work shall be diminished.'"12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.13 The taskmasters were urgent saying, "Fulfill your work quota daily, as when there was straw!"14 The officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, "Why haven't you fulfilled your quota both yesterday and today, in making brick as before?"15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, "Why do you deal this way with your servants?16 No straw is given to your servants, and they tell us, 'Make brick!' and behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in your own people."17 But he said, "You are idle! You are idle! Therefore you say, 'Let us go and sacrifice to Yahweh.'18 Go therefore now, and work, for no straw shall be given to you, yet you shall deliver the same number of bricks!"19 The officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in trouble, when it was said, "You shall not diminish anything from your daily quota of bricks!"20 They met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came out from Pharaoh:21 and they said to them, "May Yahweh look at you, and judge, because you have made us a stench to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us."22 Moses returned to Yahweh, and said, "Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Why is it that you have sent me?23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people; neither have you delivered your people at all."
