World English Bible In the same day Noah, and Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, entered into the ship;

En ce jour même. L'historien élohiste revient ici en arrière pour insister sur le fait que le déluge commença au jour même où Noé et sa famille entrèrent dans l'arche, où les animaux s'étaient réfugiés dans le cours des jours précédents.

Les créatures sauvages ont été dociles ; l'arrivée de ce cataclysme et le fait d'entrer dans l'arche n'ont pas modifié leur comportement ni leur nature. Les hypocrites dans l'église, qui, aux yeux du monde, se conforment aux lois de cette « arche spirituelle », conservent leur vieille nature ; celle-ci, un jour ou l'autre, finira par se révéler.

Dieu continue à s'occuper de Noé. L'Éternel ferme la porte, afin qu'il soit bien en sûreté et en sécurité, lui et tout son entourage, à l'intérieur de l'arche ; quelle que soit la manière employée, Dieu ne s'est pas particulièrement réjoui d'exécuter sa sentence.

C'est un réel privilège et une sécurité de faire partie, de par l'évangile, de « l'arche spirituelle » que représente l'église. L'apôtre a fait de cette arche, une image du baptême, 1Pierre 3:20,21.

Nous sommes en face d'une grande responsabilité vis-à-vis de l'obéissance à l'évangile, étant animés d'une foi vivante, en Christ, en nous engageant vers le chemin du salut, que Dieu a préparé pour les pauvres pécheurs. Ceux qui entrent dans cette « arche spirituelle » devraient amener avec eux autant de personnes que possible, en leur donnant de bonnes instructions, en les persuadant et en leur montrant le bon exemple. Il y a de la place pour tous ceux qui veulent entrer en Christ. Dieu a placé Adam dans le paradis, sans toutefois l'enfermer ; Il l'a même, pour finir, expulsé ; par contre, quand Dieu plaça Noé dans l'arche, et de manière imagée, quand une âme s'approche de Christ, le salut est assuré : Cela n'est pas le résultat d'un quelconque mérite personnel, mais celui qu'opère la main du Médiateur. La porte de la grâce sera rapidement close à la face de ceux qui refusent la lumière. Frappez maintenant et il vous sera ouvert, Luc 13:25.
