Voici, les jours viennent, dit l'Éternel, et je susciterai à David un Germe juste ; et il régnera en roi, et prospérera, et exercera le jugement et la justice dans la pays.
Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

World English Bible Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

Un germe juste. Ce terme prophétique apparaît pour la première fois Esaïe 4.2 ; après Jérémie, Zacharie le reprend à son tour et le développe, 3.8 ; 6.12. C'est ainsi que la tradition prophétique se continue et s'enrichit d'éléments toujours nouveaux. On peut bien dire du fleuve de la prophétie : crescit eundo, il s'accroît en marchant. Tout le contexte nous prouve qu'il s'agit ici déjà, non pas d'une collectivité, comme plusieurs interprètes le pensent, mais d'un personnage unique qui se dégage dans l'horizon prophétique de ceux qui lui faisaient cortège, les pasteurs du verset précédent.

Il sera sage, autant qu'habile ; le mot hébreu réunit ces deux idées.
