Par ce souvenir historique, Jésus confirme l'exhortation qui précède. La femme de Lot, en fuyant Sodome, regarda en arrière, (Genèse 19.26) parce qu'elle n'avait pas renoncé de tout son cœur aux biens qu'elle laissait dans cette ville, et elle en porta la peine. Que sera-ce à la venue du Seigneur !
