Que ne sommes-nous morts ?

Déjà au désert de Sin les Israélites avaient murmuré dans les mêmes termes, et ce péché leur avait été pardonné (Exode 16.3) ; mais, après tout ce que l'Eternel avait fait pour eux depuis cette époque, et au moment même où le peuple se préparait à entrer au pays de Canaan, cette révolte prenait un caractère beaucoup plus grave.
