Dans son malheur. On a souvent traduit : Par son péché. Mais le parallélisme (dans sa mort) n'est pas favorable à ce sens. Le méchant, quand lui survient un malheur, est renversé sans espoir de relèvement, car il n'a pour lui ni Dieu, ni son prochain (Job 27.8-9).

Dans sa mort : même à cette heure redoutable. Comme déjà dans 4.18 ; 5.6 ; 10.25-28 ; 11.7 ; 12.28, nous avons ici une espérance qui porte au-delà de la vie terrestre. Voir encore 15.21 ; 21.16 ; 23.13,17,18 ; 24.14,19-20. Cette confiance n'était pas celle de la masse du peuple, mais bien d'une élite de penseurs et de croyants, tels que celui qui pouvait dire : Je remets mon esprit entre tes mains.
