Si la vraie foi chrétienne produit l'amour, (versets 9-11) elle est inséparable aussi de l'espérance.

Dans notre vie actuelle, il y a plus de sujets de tristesse que de motifs de joie ; (Jean 16.33) mais quant à l'espérance, le chrétien peut toujours être joyeux, car il sait que l'avenir lui appartient, qu'il va au-devant de l'affranchissement de toute souffrance et de l'éternelle félicité. (1Thessaloniciens 5.16 ; 1Pierre 1.8)

De là aussi pour lui le moyen d'être patient ou persévérant dans l'affliction. (Jacques 5.11)

Abandonné à ses propres ressources, il succomberait, mais il puise la vraie force dans la prière, il doit seulement s'y montrer persévérant. (Actes 1.14 ; Luc 18.1)
