Comparer sur cette mort du chrétien avec son Sauveur Colossiens 2.12 ; Romains 6.1-11 ; Galates 6.14.

- Et sur ce terme, les éléments du monde, verset 8 et Galates 4.3, note.

- Ces éléments du monde, dont Dieu s'était servi dans sa loi, durant l'enfance de son peuple, devaient conduire ce dernier à de plus hautes vérités ; y retourner après que l'Evangile a donné la réalité, la vie qu'ils préfiguraient, c'est retomber dans la servitude. Cette rechute s'est vue et se voit encore partout où Christ est voilé par d'autres moyens de salut, partout où d'autres médiateurs que lui viennent se placer entre Dieu et nous.

Grec : "Pourquoi êtes-vous encore dogmatisés, comme si..." L'apôtre emploie ce terme pour rappeler les ordonnances qu'il a présentées

à verset 14 comme abolies par la mort de Christ ; ces ordonnances se nomment en grec des dogmes.

Ce dernier mot n'a jamais, dans l'Ecriture, le sens qu'il a reçu depuis dans le langage ecclésiastique : il vaudrait la peine de s'en souvenir. (Comparer Ephésiens 2.15, note.)

Au verset suivant, Paul exprime d'une manière frappante le légalisme de ces ordonnances ou de ces défenses minutieuses qui rappellent si bien celles dont les pharisiens chargeaient les consciences.
