On a objecté, contre la vérité de cet édit, ces tournures si semblables à celles des Psaumes. Elles peuvent être dans la bouche de Nébucadnetsar l'écho des paroles de Daniel. Mais il importe de remarquer que, d'après Lenormant, presque toutes les phrases de ce passage (versets 31 à 36) se retrouvent dans les inscriptions assyriennes et surtout dans les hymnes, qui offrent souvent des rapports étonnants avec les psaumes hébreux.

Pour l'arrêter : littéralement pour lui frapper sur la main, comme on fait avec un enfant.
