Ouvertes : non grillĂ©es comme souvent en Orient. Comparez EzĂ©chiel 40.16. Le texte ne signifie pas que Daniel ouvrit ces fenĂȘtres Ă  ce moment-lĂ , comme pour braver, ainsi qu'on le croit d'ordinaire. Il s'agit d'une disposition tenant Ă  la construction mĂȘme de la chambre haute.

La chambre haute Ă©tait la construction lĂ©gĂšre Ă©levĂ©e sur le toit des maisons, oĂč l'on se retirait lorsque l'on dĂ©sirait ĂȘtre tranquille, par exemple pour prier. Actes 1.13 ; 10.9.

Du cÎté de Jérusalem. Comparez 1Rois 8.38,44,48 et Psaumes 28.2.

Trois fois. L'Ă©tablissement de la coutume de prier trois fois par jour, que nous rencontrons dans le Nouveau Testament est attribuĂ© par la tradition rabbinique aux hommes de la grande Synagogue, postĂ©rieure Ă  l'Ă©poque oĂč Daniel vivait ; mais il est trĂšs possible qu'elle existĂąt dĂ©jĂ  auparavant comme habitude particuliĂšre Ă  certains hommes pieux, surtout pendant l'exil et en l'absence des sacrifices. On en voit les premiers vestiges dans Psaumes 55.18.
